Quantum technologies and European sovereignty with Olivier Ezratty

This new "Expert Meeting" provided our members with a unique opportunity to discuss the key challenges relating to quantum technologies and European sovereignty.

As part of our working group on « French and European strategic autonomy in quantum infrastructure », we were delighted to welcome Olivier Ezratty, lecturer, author and co-founder of the Quantum Energy Initiative, on Thursday 9 April 2026. This meeting provided an opportunity for our members and guests to explore the diversity and complexity of quantum technologies, as well as to discuss their strategic aspects in the context of European strategic autonomy.

Discussions focused in particular on the sector’s industrial and research dynamics, its dual capabilities, the challenges the sector faces in raising and attracting capital in Europe, and the governance of quantum initiatives on our continent (scientific, industrial and ethical strategy).

Olivier particularly helped participants to better understand the landscape of the players involved in this revolution, both in terms of their influence on the European and global quantum markets and their value propositions (hardware, software, cloud, etc.). Finally, Olivier helped to bridge the gap between perceptions and the technological reality of quantum computing (environmental impact, potential applications), and the process of building a coherent European strategy around these complex and still poorly understood technologies was also discussed.
