Our roadmap for 2026

Roadmap 2026 : online protection of minors and public health, strategic autonomy of quantum infrastructures, and environmental sustainability of digital technology, are the three working groups of the think tank at the start of this year. Working group « French and European strategic autonomy in quantum infrastructure »

European technological sovereigntyDue to France’s quantum strategy, the strengths and structure of its ecosystem, and the objectives set by the European Commission for 2030, quantum technology has emerged as a relevant topic for examining the prospects for strategic autonomy in France and Europe in the field of disruptive technologies.

This Renaissance Numérique working group follows on from the report entitled « European technological sovereignty » (2022). The first stage of the working group’s work was marked by a conference given by Raphaël Maurel, president and founder of the Centre for the Study of Quantum Technology Developments (CevoteQ) and member of Renaissance Numérique, on the legal, political and ethical issues surrounding quantum technologies.

The objective of this working group will be to produce an exploratory note aimed at shedding light on the opportunities and risks associated with quantum technologies from the perspective of strategic autonomy and dependencies in France and Europe.

Working group « Protection of minors and public health »

Age assurance onlineThis working group is firmly rooted in recent and numerous developments that have brought the issue of protecting minors in the digital environment to the forefront.
Numerous actions have recently been taken in response to the potentially harmful effects of early exposure and certain digital uses on minors and the most vulnerable members of the public: parliamentary publication of the « TikTok report », closure of pornographic websites that do not effectively verify the age of users, debate, proposed legislation and adoption of laws aimed at restricting minors’ access to social networks (e.g. France, Denmark, Australia, etc.).

The working group’s objective is to produce a report to inform the debate on the protection of minors online, taking into account the dimensions of mental health, socialisation, freedom of expression, education, digital parenting and the right to privacy. This working group is a continuation of the work carried out by Renaissance Numérique since 2017 on combating online hate and cyberbullying, and then in 2022 on online age assurance.

Working group « Environmental sustainability of digital technology »

Renaissance Numérique is initiating a discussion on the sustainability of digital technology. This working group aims to lay the foundations for an informed and shared approach to a complex issue that is becoming increasingly important in public debate.
