AI for civil society organizations

This survey is the first step in the “AI for Social Change” project, led by TechSoup and carried out in France by Mednum and Renaissance Numérique. This project aims to help civil society organizations take advantage of artificial intelligence (AI) technologies. It is supported by Google.org.
>> RESPOND TO THE SURVEY <<
A three-year project in 10 countries across Europe, Africa, and the Middle East.
The project focuses on three main areas:
- Knowledge, skills, and learning: AI culture and proficiency, media and information literacy, digital transformation and inclusion, effective communication, etc.
- Stronger communities: particularly on topics such as cybersecurity, digital literacy, protecting vulnerable populations from online threats and scams, etc.
- Scientific progress: developing AI solutions for climate protection and strengthening crisis response.
Actions are already planned and may be supplemented based on the responses to this survey:
- The development of national maps and the assessment of civil society needs.
- The training of trainers and the development of a growing network of local AI trainers.
- Online and face-to-face training sessions for associations.
- The creation of a multilingual resource library on AI.
- The organization of community events.
TechSoup is a nonprofit social enterprise that provides civil society actors with transformative technology solutions and the skills needed to generate social impact, both locally and globally.
The AI for Social Change project is part of the Digital Activism Program, a global initiative that empowers community leaders by providing support, learning opportunities, funding, networking, resources, and tools to strengthen their digital resilience and help them adapt to current challenges.
