Lucien Castex

Representative for public affairs and partnership development at AFNIC

Lucien Castex is a member of the Board of Directors of Renaissance Numérique. Since 2020, he has been the representative for public affairs and partnership development at AFNIC (Association française pour le nommage Internet en coopération)

A specialist in digital law and policy, Lucien is also a research associate at Sorbonne-Nouvelle University and teaches communication law. He was appointed in April 2019 to the National Advisory Commission on Human Rights (CNCDH). He is also co-chair of the organizing committee of the French Internet Governance Forum and a member of the IGF Multistakeholder Advisory Group at the international level. 

Before joining Afnic, Lucien was Secretary General of the Internet Society (ISOC) France. He has also worked for UNESCO, the Institut National de l’Audiovisuel (INA) and the Techniques, Territories and Societies Laboratory (Ecole des Ponts ParisTech, Gustave-Eiffel University, CNRS). Trained in law (EFB, Universities of Paris II, Paris V and Paris X), Lucien is a graduate of the Ecole Normale Supérieure (DEC), as well as of the University of Paris IV in philosophy and sociology
