Jean-Sébastien Mariez

For 15 years, Jean-Sébastien has been assisting key players in the digital economy by protecting their innovations (software, databases, artificial intelligence, e-commerce platforms, video games, search engines), securing their business (personal data, cybercrime, e-reputation), and representing them in disputes before civil, commercial, and criminal courts (counterfeiting, unfair competition, internet litigation) or regulatory authorities. His practice focuses on the following sectors: information and communication technology services, media, video games, luxury goods, and consumer goods.
Jean-Sébastien also advises his clients on public affairs and regulations in order to facilitate the anticipation and integration of legislative changes that are structural to their activities. In this regard, he has recently been involved in the adoption of the law aimed at combating hateful content on the internet, the law on the manipulation of information, and the transposition of European directives and regulations.
Before founding Momentum, Jean-Sébastien practiced as a partner at De Gaulle Fleurance & Associés, which he joined after serving as Head of Cybersecurity and Anti-Counterfeiting in the Public Affairs and Legal Department at Microsoft France.
Jean-Sébastien was involved for ten years with the association Lawyers Without Borders, where he actively contributed to European fundraising, the management of a mass litigation program relating to human rights violations, and the release of convicts following proceedings initiated before the ECOWAS Court.
