“From lines of code to social responsibility”, Renaissance Numérique at DrupalCamp Grenoble 2026

Jean-François Lucas, General Manager of Renaissance Numérique, represented the think tank during the keynote speech entitled "From lines of code to social responsibility: become a driving force in AI literacy", organised by DrupalCamp in Grenoble.

During his keynote speech at DrupalCamp 2026, Jean-François LUCAS began by outlining the key findings of the report « Developing AI literacy for an inclusive and empowering society » , emphasising the importance of gaining a better understanding of the uses, limitations, and social implications of generative artificial intelligence, particularly for those who struggle with digital environments.

After summarising the 11 recommendations, Jean-François outlined three reasons why developers should take an interest in this issue:

  1. Remain in control and do not confuse « delegating » to AI with « loss of autonomy » (see Shoshana Zuboff’s « division of learning »).
  2. Free up middle managers: while middle managers are suffocating under the weight of control and reporting (see Pierre Legendre, « Dominium Mundi »), AI can represent an opportunity to put « people back at the centre » and turn middle managers into relationship builders within organisations, rather than financial controllers.
  3. In other words, continuing what the Drupal community is already doing: explaining, documenting, discussing, guiding, making things accessible, maintaining, contributing… A developer is not merely a technical executor: they shape uses, dependencies, and margins of understanding, and thus are a part of the social relationship between organisations, tools, and audiences. They are already practising literacy without even realising it!

Thank you to the organisers for the invitation and to the Drupal community for listening!
